The 2016 film Ben-Hur was a box office flop. The 1959 blockbuster was a huge success. The book it was based on is also incredibly fascinating. It’s Lewis Wallace’s novel Ben-Hur: The Christ Story, written in 1880 after a chance meeting on a train.
