The Power and Necessity of Intercessory Prayer for the Country

In times of trials and war, intercessory prayer becomes a crucial spiritual shield for the entire nation. When the lives of the innocent are maliciously targeted and the enemy tries to destroy our land, the prayer of believers is capable of changing circumstances and drawing down God’s mercy.

The example of Moses demonstrates the heart of a true intercessor: when God’s anger burned because of the sins of the people, it was Moses’ earnest intercession that turned away destruction. God expects His people to offer sincere prayers of standing in the gap, for repentance and intercession change the course of history.

«The Lord said to Moses, “I have seen this people, and they are indeed a stiff-necked people. Now leave me alone, so that my anger can burn against them and I can destroy them. Then I will make you into a great nation.” But Moses sought the favor of the Lord his God: “Lord, why does your anger burn against your people you brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and a strong hand?… Turn from your fierce anger and relent concerning the disaster you planned for your people… So the Lord relented concerning the disaster he said he would bring on his people.»

Praying for the government and military leadership is a direct command of Scripture. Even the wisest leaders experience tremendous spiritual and emotional pressure, as man himself is weak in the face of temptations and the enemy’s manipulations. Intercession for leadership is the key to a quiet and tranquil life for the whole country.

«First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.»

The enemy always directs his strongest attacks against ministers and spiritual fathers. The main strategy of darkness is to strike the shepherd so that the sheep may be scattered.

The church stands and carries the spiritual light as long as its spiritual leaders stand. There may be many instructors, but spiritual fathers who invest their lives and bear the burden for the congregation are few.

The best support for ministers from the church is not judging human weakness, but constant blessing and prayerful care over their families, health, and spiritual calling.

The Heavenly Peace of Christ (Shalom) vs. The Peace of This World

Losing inner peace during shelling, air raids, or heavy news is a natural human reaction. However, the devil seeks to use these circumstances to break the foundation of faith and deprive a Christian of God’s peace.

It is worth distinguishing between two types of peace:

• Peace of this world: Temporary tranquility dependent on favorable circumstances (comfort, health, finances, absence of threat). It collapses at the very first trial.
• God’s Peace (Shalom): Supernatural peace in Christ Jesus that does not depend on external chaos or surrounding threats.

Christ did not promise the absence of suffering in earthly life, but He gave the promise of Victory, which allows the believer to go through any trial without despair.

Finding peace in God is a spiritual practice: during danger and anxiety, not giving in to panic, but running in prayer to Christ, renewing the understanding of His absolute power and care.

Partaking in the Lord’s Supper is not just a tradition, but a living covenant and a remembrance of the sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The bread and juice remind us of redemption from sin, hell, and the power of darkness.

Through the blood of Christ, we have complete reconciliation with the Heavenly Father, and therefore — access to the source of unshakable peace and protection in the hardest times.
