Purim is celebrated on the 14th day of the Jewish month of Adar. In 2014 it falls on March 16th. The day that was once designated as the day of destruction for the Jewish people is today designated as the day of destruction for Ukraine. But everything the devil plans will not happen! It was this day, contrary to all the plans of Satan, that became the day of the miraculous salvation of Jews in the Persian kingdom, which occurred almost 2.5 thousand years ago.

So, the pieces are placed on the chessboard – it’s time to start the attack. Haman, a descendant of Amalek, is in a position from which he can deal a mortal blow to the Jews, and Mordechai and Esther were already in a position from which they can save their people. This is God’s truth: trouble has not yet approached us, but the Almighty has already prepared a medicine against it. Our role is to find it, this medicine, and use it.

And so the great battle began. But this did not happen on the battlefield, but… in the quiet of the royal chambers. Haman came to Artaxerxes with a message: there is a people in the empire who have their own religion, their own customs and who, although scattered throughout the country, do not mix with others. Therefore, those people are very dangerous. There is only one way to get rid of this danger: by resorting to total destruction. This people are Jews.

Artaxerxes immediately agreed with Haman and transferred all powers to implement the “final solution to the Jewish question” into the hands of his minister.

With the help of lot (in ancient Persian – pur), the day was chosen – the 13th of Adar – when special military units would begin a complete pogrom of Jews, and crowds of “angry citizens” would complete it. This date was communicated only to provincial governors.

Smaller leaders had to stir up the “just anger of the Persian people” for a number of months.

Mordechai immediately learned about all this – including the date. Soon Esther received a secret message from Mordechai with an analysis of the situation and practical conclusions:

1. A real mortal danger is approaching the entire Jewish people.

2. The fact that she, Esther, ended up in the palace in such an unexpected and strange way shows that she was chosen by the Almighty as an instrument of possible salvation.

3. She must take advantage of her opportunities, even if this entails danger to herself.

4. Since the true – internal – reason for the appearance of Haman, a descendant of Amalek, and the certain success of his plans was the spiritual state of the Jews, which fell “below the red line,” he, Mordechai, for his part, will direct efforts to eliminate this cause.

Esther agreed and asked only one thing: before she went to Artaxerxes (which was contrary to palace traditions and was therefore deadly), all Jews, all the people, would have to take equally unusual actions. It is necessary to declare an unprecedented three-day fast – three days and three nights without food or drink. Fasting and other signs of mourning for Jerusalem.

The Jewish people accepted this condition. The true, internal reason that gave rise to Haman’s rise and his plans for the “Final Solution” was eliminated. The entire people took part in this cleansing measure. In the spiritual world of Amalek’s ongoing struggle with Israel, his descendant Haman was not given a single chance to win.

In the physical world, events developed very rapidly. Having invited Artaxerxes and Haman to a festive dinner in her apartment, Esther chose the moment and informed the king that she was a Jew and that Haman wanted to destroy her people, of which, for example, Mordecai, who saved the king’s life, was a part…

“In the twelfth month, that is, in the month of Adar, on its thirteenth day, on which the time had come for the king’s command and his decree to be fulfilled, on that day when the enemies of the Jews hoped to take power over them, but it turned out the other way around, that the Jews themselves took power over their enemies, the Jews gathered in their cities throughout all the regions of King Artaxerxes to lay hands on their ill-wishers; and no one could stand before them, because the fear of them fell upon all the nations.” (Esther 9:1-2)

“And the Lord saved His people, and the Lord delivered us from all these evils, and God performed great signs and wonders, such as had never happened among the pagans. So God arranged two lots: one for the people of God, and the other for all the pagans, and these two lots came out at the hour and time and on the day of judgment before God and all the pagans. And the Lord remembered His people and justified His inheritance.” (Esther 10:3)

Today is Purim. The day that was designated as the day of death for Ukraine. It is he, thanks to your and my participation, that should become the day of the enemy’s defeat! Let us stand in prayer and fasting, we will not be indifferent, we will take to our streets and squares against all the forces of evil, and we will definitely see God’s miracle for our people!!!
