Serhiy Bogomazyuk: The path of service, love for people and scientific vocation
Serhiy Bogomazyuk is a person whose life combines sincere faith, active social assistance, love for his family and deep scientific and teaching activities.
Services and social projects in Ukraine
Serhiy was born in Kyiv, in Borshchahivka, where the Church of God’s Glory was born. While studying at Wesley College, he became more active in the community – he was a youth leader, carried out an important mission of teenage ministry and mentoring. Later, his life and work were closely connected with Transcarpathia, where he became the pastor of the Evangelical Methodist Church in Uzhhorod (47 Pidhirna St.).
Striving to bring real benefit to society and help those who needed it most, Serhii actively cooperated with the religious community of the Tree of Life Methodist Church in Uzhgorod under the leadership of Yosyp Remezanaliyovych Esenov. Together, they implemented a number of important charitable and social initiatives:
- Programs of support and care for homeless children.
- Projects to help people without a permanent place of residence.
- Various humanitarian and spiritual and educational activities for the city community.
A new stage in the USA and volunteering
Circumstances in life, including the need for specialized treatment for children, prompted Serhiy’s family to emigrate to the United States of America.
Having found himself in a new country, Serhiy did not abandon his vocation to serve people. He immediately joined the life of the local Christian community, intensified volunteering and helped various public organizations that cared for the needy and immigrants.
Scientific degree and teaching career
Combining service with education, Serhiy earned a high academic degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D. in Sociology) at the prestigious University of Southern California.
Today, Dr. Serhii Bogomazyuk works as a teacher and professor of sociology (Sociology Assistant Professor / Professor). His academic activities include teaching and coordinating educational programs in colleges, particularly in the Los Rios Community College District system (which includes such well-known California educational institutions as American River College, Cosumnes River College, Folsom Lake College and Sacramento City College).
Combining academic knowledge, pastoral experience and a sincere heart, Serhiy continues to influence the lives of students, Christian communities and everyone around him.
