Today, 24 000 Ukrainian orphans are in need of adoption, and about 40 000 children are being raised in boarding schools without official status, remaining orphans with living parents. It’s time to change these statistics – there should be more churches in Ukraine and no more orphans left! On this day, Churches throughout Ukraine pay special attention to children left without parental care. The purpose of the Day of Prayer is to remind people of God’s attitude towards such children and to help them see ways to help them. After all, only through active action can we fulfill God’s command to “look after the fatherless” (James 1:27).
